Animal Care & Control
Spay & Neuter Voucher Program
Any resident who lives in the un-incorporated areas of San Bernardino County is
eligible to participate in the Spay & Neuter Voucher Program. The spay and neuter
vouchers have a maximum value of $50.00 for dogs and $25.00 for cats.
The pet owner is responsible for any charges that go over and above these amounts,
however, there are pet assistance groups that may be able to help you with any additional
charges. If you have questions, need more information about these pet assistance
groups, or if you just want to find out if you qualify for this program you can
call 1-888-767-2550 (This service is not available on-line because staff must
verify if residents qualify for the program). The POPCO (Pet Over Population COalition)
number is manned by volunteers from various animal welfare groups.
They take down eligible resident's information (i.e. name, address, phone number,
type of animal (cat/dog), breed, color, and age) and then fax the information sheet
to our Animal Care & Control clerks at our main office in San Bernardino, which
is located at 351 N. Mt. View Avenue. Once we receive the request for vouchers,
we mail them out to you.
When you receive the vouchers you will also receive a list of the local veterinarians
in your area that are participating in the San Bernardino County Spay & Neuter
Voucher Program. Currently there are a total of 59 participating veterinarians throughout
the county. You must then present this voucher to one of those veterinarians who
will then perform the spay or neuter surgery.
