The Child Abuse Prevention Planning Committee, acting on behalf of the Children's  Policy Council, is an interagency planning group for planning and executing San Bernardino County's participation in the National Child Abuse Prevention campaign each April, and developing ongoing public awareness activities in all areas of child abuse and child safety.

The goal of the April 2009 Child Abuse Prevention campaign was to raise public awareness regarding the issue of child abuse and neglect, and to promote positive parenting skills countywide. In the 2008 campaign Children's Network and Children's Fund worked with the:

Campaign Highlights
bulletA Board of Supervisors Resolution declaring April 2009 Child Abuse Prevention Month.
bulletThe Child Abuse Prevention Councils representing the April Campaign will distribute more that 250,000 pieces of positive parenting and educational materials countywide.
bulletDistribution of more than 150,000 information/educational/awareness pieces.
bulletThe "Fun In The Sun Safe Summer Campaign" begins in May and ends on Labor Day each year.  The focus is drowning prevention and not leaving children unattended in vehicles.  Materials on these two subjects as well as many other safety issues may be obtained by visiting the resource center in the Children's Network Office.
