Emergency Assistance

 

The emergency services below are provided to individuals and families meeting criteria who are experiencing an unexpected crisis situation. Assistance may vary depending on funding availability and program eligibility requirements.

Food Assistance
Transportation Assistance
Clothing/Hygiene Items Assistance

Food Assistance - is provided in the form of food voucher (s). Following are the conditions that may possibly qualify someone for this service in addition to the general program eligibility requirements:

  • Must have written documentation/proof of emergency that occurred within the last 30 days. Example: Police report for theft; denial for TANF or food stamps benefits; job termination notice; reduction in food stamps.
  • Each request for food will be evaluated on an individual basis. Clients may receive food assistance only once in every 12 month period.
Transportation Assistance- is provided in the form of bus passes, and/or gasoline cards. Following are the conditions that may possibly qualify someone for this service in addition to the general program eligibility requirements:

  • Must provide written proof of appointments (doctor appointments, job search, interviews, etc.)                                                                      
  • Must have proof of an emergency that occurred within the last 30 days.
  • Clients may receive transportation assistance only once in every 12 month period.

Micellaneous Assistance-a discount voucher that allows clients to receive a reduction on the standard rate for a California Identification Card. (This discount does NOT apply to renewals or Drivers License).

 Clothes/Hygiene Assistance- is evaluated on case-by-case bases, upon the nature of the emergency.

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Picture Identification
  • Social Security Cards for entire household
  •  Proof of income within the last 30 days (pay stubs, printed statement of public benefits, CalWorks Notice of action w/ cash aid and food stamp amount.)
  • If self-employed please provide verification
