West Nile Virus Reported in San Bernardino County
The state laboratory confirmed yesterday that mosquitos collected on the border of Fontana and Ontario on April 25, 2012, tested positive for West Nile Virus. This is the first positive indicator of West Nile Virus in 2012 in the area served by the County of San Bernardino’s Mosquito and Vector Control Program. The positive test resulted from routine mosquito trapping at Wineville Basin (county flood control property). The Basin was treated after the trapping was done and will continue to be monitored regularly.

Department of Public Health Announces Award to Expand Hesperia Health Center
The County of San Bernardino Department of Public Health has received a U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant to expand the Hesperia Health Center. HRSA awarded the Department of Public Health $4,897,415 through the Service Area Competitive funding to expand the Hesperia Health Center by approximately 5,800 square feet. The expansion will include six additional examination rooms, an ADA compliant special procedures room, five nursing triage bays, radiology capabilities, dental services, and expansion of the existing on-site laboratory, a mental health consultation room, conference room, classroom space, and additional equipment.
