Mailing Information

Include a return address.
No more than 10 pictures are allowed at one time. Pictures cannot be larger than 5 x 7. Pictures depicting gang affiliation or pictures of a sexual nature will not be forwarded to the inmate. They will be placed on the inmate's property list or returned to the sender.
Books and magazines must be mailed directly from the bookstore or publisher. Hard-bound books will not be accepted.
Items such as stamps, writing materials, blank greeting cards and snack food items can be purchased through our commissary and cannot be sent to the inmate through the mail.
Refrain from using stickers and confetti on or in the mailed items. These items are considered contraband and may delay delivery.
Do not mail musical greeting cards.

Visitor Information

All visits are scheduled by phone and must be made one day prior to the day you wish to visit.
Inmates may have only one visit per day with up to 6 visitors. Inmates with special classifications have a different set of guidelines. Please call for that information.
Visitors must arrive 30 minutes prior to their scheduled time to check in. Late arrivals will not be admitted.
All visitors 18 years and older must have a valid government ID card, such as: DMV ID or driver's license; county, city or state employee ID card; military ID; or valid passport.

Visitors Under the Age of 18

Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Verification of relationship is required via birth certificate, proof of guardianship or questioning of the minor.
Visitors must keep children within arm's reach. Visitors who fail to maintain control of their children may have their visit terminated.
Visitors age 12 and over are permitted to visit inmate parents unaccompanied by an adult.
Visitors under the age of 18 may visit an inmate spouse. A marriage certificate and photo identification is required.

Dress Code

Visitors wearing prohibited attire will be denied.

Clothing or accessories displaying obscene or offensive language or pictures
Sheer or transparent garments
Tank tops, halter tops, strapless or spaghetti-strap tops
Clothing exposing the breasts/chest, midriff area, genital area, or buttocks
Shorts, skirts and dresses shorter than mid-thigh
Shoes must be worn

Adding Money to an Inmate's Account

Money orders will be accepted through the mail and posted to the inmate's account. The money order should be made out to the correct detention facility and include the inmate's name and booking number. We accept all forms of money orders but postal money orders are preferred. Bank cashier checks will be accepted and posted only after verification has been made by the bank. We do not accept cash or personal checks.

Cash deposits to an inmate's account can be made in person at the appropriate facility. You must have the exact money amount, as change cannot be given. We do not accept coins.

The Sheriff’s Department is authorized to accept bail either in cash or in a surety bond (California Penal Code section 1269b). Other forms of bail, including equity in real property, may be accepted by the court but not by the jail (California Penal Code sections 1292-1298). The Sheriff’s Department is prohibited from recommending or referring business to any bail agent.

Please be aware that posting bail for an inmate does not guarantee his or her release. For example, you may notice that the words “no bail” appear next to some charges. This indicates the inmate must remain in custody on that charge until his or her next court appearance even if bail is posted on all other charges. Similarly, if the word “sentenced” appears next to a charge, the inmate must remain in custody for a period determined by the court and cannot be released on bail on that charge. These are two examples of many conditions that might require us to keep an inmate in custody after bail has been posted. As a general guideline (which may not apply in all instances), an inmate will be released if a bail amount appears next to each of his or her listed charges and an acceptable form of bail is posted for each charge.
