The Chino Hills Sheriff's Station serves the population of a 300 square mile patrol area and is located in the county's "West End". It interfaces with Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties, and includes the unincorporated areas of Upland, Montclair, Ontario and Chino, the community of San Antonio Heights and Mt. Baldy wilderness. Our West End Patrol Deputies serve these communities with the complement of several volunteer groups of the Sheriff's Department. These include Citizens on Patrol, Search and Rescue, Explorers and Line Reserves.
Along with patrolling the San Antonio Heights area, Citizen Patrol members have constructed a secure garage at no cost to the taxpayer, for the storage of Citizen Patrol and Mountain Search and Rescue vehicles.
In 2003, the Board of Supervisors provided funding to the Sheriff's Department to construct a satellite station at 4138 Mission Boulevard, Montclair to better serve the community. This was a joint venture with the Sheriff's Department, California Highway Patrol and Montclair Police Department. The satellite station opened in October of 2003 and provides a location for officers to complete reports in the community they serve and enables them to have a quicker response to calls for service.
The Chino Hills Sheriff's Station continues to conduct criminal offender sweeps and gang suppression operations throughout the West End, and assists with many more throughout the region. Our deputies in conjunction with local parole, probation and code enforcement officers, continue to curb criminal activity as a part of problem oriented policing. Several additional criminal offender operations will be conducted in the years to come, ensuring area residents of a safe environment in which to live and raise their families.
The station's Search and Rescue team remains one of the première search and rescue teams in the state. They have participated in many local search, rescue and recovery operations for the station and assisted allied agencies when requested. When not actively involved in search and rescue operations, the teams participate in a grueling schedule of training, honing their skills and heightening their abilities to properly respond when called upon.
Chino Hills Explorer Scouts eagerly attend departmental functions and community events to offer their support in our combined efforts. They remain victorious in the numerous events and competitions in which they display their skills and pride in their law enforcement affiliation. They continue to offer their assistance whenever necessary, and for the good of the department and the public we serve.
It is through the combined effort of our patrol deputies and volunteers that the Chino Hills Sheriff's Station has been able to maintain its levels of service in our ever more demanding and diverse society.
